Happy Holidays, tears_of_nienna!

title: Inappropriate Goings-On in the Library of Alexandria, 48 BC, Precariously Near a Burning Torch
gift for: tears_of_nienna

</b></a></div>artist's notes: Interestingly, from the research I did before starting this picture (Yes, I actually did research for a picture of this, ahem... nature. See, it's educational!), it seems that despite Caesar generally getting credit for the first burning of the Library of Alexandria in 48 BC, there is some scholarly speculation that it wasn't actually his fault, and that he was merely conveniently blamed by some of his [many, one presumes] dissenters. A certain 'senator Crolius', anyone?

You've done the lighting very well.
Dec. 9th, 2008 06:02 am (UTC)
Ah, thank you! I have to admit I'm ridiculously happy with the lighting. I think it's the first time I've gotten it close it right.
Dec. 9th, 2008 03:04 am (UTC)
Absolutely breathtaking (and only partly because I'm giggling so hard ^_^). I adore the painterly quality and the warmth of the light...and Aziraphale's hair makes me inordinately happy. Bravo!!

Thank you so much! I must confess I'm really happy with the light too, because I've never been able to get it quite right before. Slash is magical, obvsly. And I'm so glad I made you laugh! :D

Beautiful job.

Best. Christmas. Ever.
Oh oh oh oh oh. This is incredible, the torchlight and the colors and the kissing! And the scrolls, and the hair, and the togas! And Aziraphale's beautiful eyes open ever so slightly...and the intimation that they burned down the library with their antics is hilarious!

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!

*is tempted to put Crowley's bum up as her desktop background*

*gives in to temptation*

Re: Best. Christmas. Ever.
You're most welcome! I'm so glad you liked the library part... I confess I poked around your journal a bit, and that's what made me think of it. If they were indeed behind the burning, I rather doubt Aziraphale spoke to Crowley for the next few centuries or so. XD As for the kissing, I'm an utter sucker for it myself, so I couldn't resist. And togas were conveniently easy to draw and prone to falling off easily.

The idea of Crowley's bum on your desktop makes me feel very accomplished, I'll have you know. :D

I love this. I love their hair, for some reason. And I love the warm light and the way it casts smooth shadows across them, which, of course, only brings out their features and makes me even happier. ;)

I also like the idea of it being their fault that the library burned down. ahaha! :D Brilliant.
Dec. 9th, 2008 05:57 am (UTC)
Thank you! I must confess I'm absurdly happy with the lighting in this. I think it's the first time I've ever gotten it close to right.

....and you know Aziraphale didn't speak to Crowley for several centuries after that. XDD

I love this. it is smokin' HOT.

I am blushing as a result of its hotness.

(again, terribly sorry about the formatting issues).

and now.... where is the fic? comment fic anyone? vulgarweed, where are you?

Dec. 9th, 2008 06:19 am (UTC)
Awwww, thank you, yet again! You make ME blush with your blushing. ^//////////^

(and please, you needn't apologize! I'm sure you and the other mods must hate me just a little by now for being such a picky bitch. ^^; I just hope I haven't fallen *too* far out of grace - you're such a very cool lot, I'd feel terrible to be on your bad sides.)

....and if this inspires fic, I think I will combust. In a very, very happy way. And also feel completely fulfilled.

Oh, lovely! The light, the proportions, the color, and the story it tells! Aziraphale seems taken by surprise, Crowley just diving right in...and good job with that plump, dimpled ass!
Dec. 10th, 2008 04:57 am (UTC)
Heee, thank you! You've NO idea how big a compliment it is to me that you feel it tells a story. It's what I strive for (and fail most often at) as an artist. I feel officially accomplished.

Very nice. Very nice!

Firstly, I love your attention to historical events, if you hadn't mentioned the first burning I'd have told them to be careful and for god's sake mind that torch!

I really like your style, I should -of course- be commenting on the absolute hotness that is doing it among heavy literature, but other things caught my attention as well. I love the line art, how the lines vary in thickness and how they make up the genle curves of their bodies. I love how you titled they respective heads, but managed to do it without exagerating and making it look natural and non-awkward. And I do love that delicious, finger-lickin' good colourjob

Oh my, thank you so much for sharing :D
Dec. 10th, 2008 05:02 am (UTC)
Oh my, thank you! I confess I certainly don't mind the "the pr0n has killed me :D" type of comments, but it IS very nice to get some feedback on the actual *art* part. And considering how very, very lovely your own work is (I poked through your things, I must confess), I feel incredibly complimented. I want very badly to stalk you now, but shall have to wait, or I'll give myself away. |D;;;

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH such beauty :O /takes it all in, completely agape/

I shall put this in my memories, and come back to look at this more closely (and lecherously) when everyone else is...asleep >_> for keenest enjoyment! :p Seriously wonderful job though :DDD
Dec. 10th, 2008 05:03 am (UTC)
Oh wow, memories! Thank you so much, I'm honored!
